Our Year

The hush of hope. A quiet longing. Perhaps new beginnings can unfurl any month, any day, any year, any season. At mid-day in June, at twilight in October, or as the clock strikes closing out another frost-encrusted December. Maybe we don’t need an excuse to believe in ourselves, in dreams of new beginnings.

Maybe the timeline doesn’t matter as long as we simply use the time.

Not just for achieving, for doing, and striving... But for enjoying, reveling, resting, surrendered being, counting blessings as they come down. This is living...the rhythms and breaks, stops, stalls, and false starts. The gracious acceptance of where we are, who we are, the journey and slow process it will take to grow into who we want, what we want. It can start any day: today, tomorrow, months from now when you feel ready.

There are no cemented timelines and expectations to living and living well, to starting and finishing. Any day can be our day. Any year can be our year, even if the pages of the calendar are filled with fragmented progress instead of checked off expectations. It is our year when we embrace it for what it brings—the triumphs, the joys, the heartbreaks. It is our year when we choose to live its whispered moments, quiet disappointments, and it’s larger-than-life, joy-filled surprises. Start at your own time, go at your own pace.

We don’t need a new year to make it our year.
